Sorry just can't get the photos to publish. What do think of my new wig? Keith always fancied a blonde.

Bowsers, Wowsers and Peppercorn Trees

Greetings from Narrandera!
The last two nights we stayed at Ariah Park (their catchprase is the heading) about 100klms from here. What a lovely little place............about 500 people and no shops! Trust me Canberra shops were excellent!! We read about the campsite which was $10 per night with power and bathroom and laundry, even free washing machine. What a bargain! We really felt like a day off so we had it there. We spent the afternoon at the swimming pool because it was so hot.
The air show was very good if you like aeroplanes and Keith does!! You would have enjoyed it too Brian. I forgot to mention before that when we were in Bathurst we took the bus around Mt Panorama and then visited the Car Museum!! I think that is why I was given some shopping time in Canberra!!

Now the poem you have all been waiting for

I HATE DAYLIGHT SAVING
I am a true Queenslander
I have been told
I hate daylight saving
Lo and behold

We get up at eight
And it feels like seven
Everything gets so late
We go to bed at eleven

A Queenslander I am
A Queenslander I'll stay
I hate daylight saving
What more can I say

Now I will also try and publish some photos

Canberra Again....Things have changed! So the ad says.

I love this place! We spent today on the push bikes riding for miles all around Lake Burley Griffin, to see Old Parliment House and the rose garden and all sorts of other sights and a visit to the National Museum! We also managed to visit the shopping centre in the city which is huge.
We have had a great time here. I have photographic proof which I will add later!
We are heading out to Temora tomorrow for an air show.
I will post some photos next time.....sorry.
Just a little bit of trivia..........did you know there were 39 $1 coins minted. I thought I had heaps but don't have near that many. I am now on a mission to find them all.
Thanks for all the comments. I love hearing from you.

Click on Canberra in the title for their second best plug.
love Taniaxx

The Nation's Capital

We have made it to Canberra. I think it is such a lovely city with so much for tourists to see and do. We hope to ride around Lake Burley Griffin tomorrow but have to get there first. It is a bit far for me to ride from the caravan park.
Today we went to the Mint and paid $3 for a $1 coin!! We were also lucky enough to be at the War Memorial at closing time for the lone piper......very moving. No photos this time but I am almost ready to publish my next poem.......

Australians All Let Us Rejoice

Happy Australia Day!!

We had a great day at Lake Canobolas with Wayne and Katrina and some of their friends. We went for lunch and stayed on for tea. It is a lovely spot to have a picnic on a hot day.
On the way we stopped off at the Visitor Centre and purchased a friend to take with us.......a photo of Matey attached!!

Tomorrow we leave Orange and will be sad to say goodbye to Wayne and Katrina who have looked after us like kings.

I have been lucky to be able to use their computer so my updates may not be so frequent from now on but I will do my best.

Looking for gold

Today Wayne took Keith and I to the Cadia gold mine where he works but we didn't find any gold!! It all just looks like a pile of rocks but we went right down into the pit which was amazing and quite a privelege as you are not normally able to do that. Katrina had to go to work so was unable to come.

Orange

We arrived in Orange yesterday and have been thoroughly spoilt by Wayne and Katrina. It is so good to see them. Did a trip round the countryside today and Wayne is taking us for a tour of the gold mine tomorrow.
I am pleased you all enjoyed my attempt at poetry ha, ha..........don't think I will be winning any awards!!

I am going to attempt to upload some photos again
A taste of the talent at Tamworth

ON TO TAMWORTH

I am having problems uploading photos at the moment.......sorry. I will keep trying but in the meantime for those of you who requested some bush poetry..........

ON TO TAMWORTH (dedicated to Brian)

We set out on our way
One hot January night, I mean day
To head south to see the lands
And listen to some country bands

First to Toowoomba, Brisbane and Casino
We stopped at a little place called Ebor
Flies and frost was what we encountered
We wondered what we had entered

On to Tamworth and the heat
Flies and dust and people to meet
All the music to be found
Everywhere you went around

Buskers on in the streets in droves
Playing music about woes and loves
In Target and all the shops
Stopping where they could find a spot

Cowboy boots and cowboy hats
Old and young, some sing like cats
Many people sit and watch
Grey nomads have found their patch

Country music, flies and heat
A better crowd you couldn't meet
Everyone goes to have some fun
Wouldn't you like to be one

My next poem will be called Daylight Saving.

Been There, Done That

Well we have left Tamworth behind. A very interesting few days with buskers such as the ones pictured. We are now at Wellington having stopped at the Black Stump for lunch.

New CD

Today we have listened to more music, yes that is what you do here. There is music everywhere. We even bought a CD as a souvenir so I am happy to loan it out to anyone that is if we don't wear it out.
It is still mighty hot!
Heading off tomorrow and to Orange on Saturday.

Wollomombi

That is the name of the second highest waterfall in NSW - just in case you are losing sleep over it!!
Now Tamworth, we woke this morning to the pitter patter of tiny HORSE feet!! we are staying at the showgrounds next to the trotting track and they are all in training for the meet tomorrow. We have to move spots as we can't stay here while the meet is on.........I guess if we paid the $10 entry fee we could, ha ha.
We rode our deadly treddly's into town this morning which wasn't too bad. We watched all kinds of buskers in the streets and even saw Dianna Corcoran perform in Target. Now I am sure you have all heard of her!
We will spend another day wandering the streets tomorrow.
Never a Dull Moment.

Is it day 6 or 7

Losing track of time already!!

We left Brisbane on Sunday morning, dropping Josh and his mate Mick off at the Big Day Out. Aah the big smoke.........hence the traffic jam! After going around in circles to head south we finally found the right road!! Great navigating.

We spent the first night 22kms south of Casino where it was soooo hot we had quite a storm. We then headed off to Ebor so I could see the highest water fall in NSW! Keith had already been there a couple of times. We stayed behind the pub - you know that one Martin. It got so cold there, there was a frost this morning. The photo is of Keith in front of the second highest waterfall............just can't remember the name.

Tamworth is warm and we are heading out to the pub for tea and hopefully hear some country music. What is the chance...........

Tommorrow is another day in Tamworth.
I was unsuccessful in uploading more than one photo and will have another go when I have more time. Must get the washing.

Yeehah....

We have made it to Tamworth. Just a quick note as Keith is busily setting up while I quickly check my blog. Will write more later. I know I have been slack but can blame technology as we haven't had phone reception the last couple of nights.

She's dropped the ball ALREADY.............

only 5 days in and already Gail's slacking off on the blog. It's gonna be a long nine months looking at that photo of her at Debby's. I'm guessing they've made it past Brisbane by now but anything's possible. I suppose I could call and check on their progress but it's more fun thinking of what they might be doing.Like sitting romantically gazing into each others eye in a roadside campsite or bickering up a storm rattling along the New England highway.

Day 1...

Didn't start off quite the way I planned. We didn't leave home until 5pm..... so much to do before we left ....so didn't arrive in Toowoomba until 10pm.............missed Carly's birthday party. Never mind we are in time for Mum's today.

Here we are staying at the Cottswald Hills Resort photoed with mine host Debby Ryan....... .

My turn to blog...........

I have just had a lesson in blogging so I can take over from Tania who has set up the blog for us and done such a good job! Just hope I can keep up with her ......

COUNTING DOWN.....

The one week mark is here, so much to do!

Aha, I fixed it!!

Sorry guys, but at last I figured out how to change the date and time on post so we'll be on the right countdown from here on in. I'd hate them to be late leaving

In case you don't know, I'm not Gail. I'm just a friend with too much time on her hands and thought this'd be a great way to keep in touch and to force Gail to take some photos of the trip. Not to many of Keith without his shirt please. Please leave a comment so they know you care and feel free to let them know what they're missing here at home, so hopefully they won't leave us for so long again.

Gail will be taking over the reins Never A Dull Moment from Saturday and

I will be keeping an eye on this blog and if Gail doesn't keep us up to date I'll be 'prompting' her into action, gently of course.
